First Shore Gig this Year!!!
I don't even know where to begin... Between how
exceptionally the band played, the Emerald Society, the Duffy String band who
made a surprise guest appearance, and our great fans and friends who came all
the way down to hear us, it's just real hard to figure out where to start!
I guess the best place would
be the official debut appearance by our new bassist, Jerry Mayall. We were a
little nervous about how we would mesh live, but by the time we hit the break
in the first song "Honkey Tonk Woman", all fears from everybody in the band
vanished. There was a certain high powered magic that the band put out that
night, and every single person in that place felt it.
What can we say about the Emerald
Society? They are a bunch of retired officers who host a lot of functions to
aid those family members of slain officers. We love them!! So when they came
in and wanted to hear traditional Irish tunes (something that we would normally
butcher if attempted), then the only logical thing to do was get the Duffy String
Band in to do it right. A lot of other bands would have been pissed off at this
sharing the bill bit, but hell, they were cops for cryin' out loud!! They put
their lives on the line for 20 odd years for our safety, so if that's what they
wanted, that's what they can have!! It was the least we could do to say thanks
for their years of service. Plus Jerry and Chiz got to play with them, spoons
I think it was, just look at the pics and get a laugh!!!
When the band resumed, they were
in full swing with everybody in the place singing and dancing. One sentimental
moment in the night is when we phoned two of most loyal and oldest fans who
are no longer in the area and dedicated songs to them over the phone. Chrissy
Catinella Moore who now resides on the left coast and our oldest and dearest
fan Karyn Zimmerman, now resides in Fla.
And when the Burlington Alumi
came down to see us, it was like coming home. Tina Shinn went above and beyond
the call of friendship and helped set up and took the pictures (and unlike her
sister, Donna, who we also love very much, she DOES know what things are for!).
Michelle Thurber and Tracy Devlin were as elegant as ever, and had a blast dancing
with Duffy members, and a special thank you to Wendy and Jim for not only coming
out, but for putting us up for the night. The staff at JD McGillicuddy's could
not have been better, and they said they can't wait to have us back. We can't
wait to go back either.
Enjoy the pics, and KEEP ON ROCKIN'
IN THE FREE WORLD!!
